I thought about adding some more details to the designs to add the impression of ornamental details. I remember seeing small details in the counters of O's in a lot of medieval manuscripts which led me to design my own letter embellishments. I was not sure whether to design them to fit in all the letters that have counters (for example; a, b and d) but, I did not want it to be too overwhelming. This addition of the embellishment gave a subtle hint at the ornamental decoration that the gothic buildings have.

Gothic style can vary depending on location, age and the type of building (the purpose as such). However, to identify these buildings architects use five key architectural features: Large stained glass windows This is why gothic architecture is usually associated with places of worship as this feature is prevalent in Gothic cathedrals.   This online infographic was a huge influence on this project and one of the first designs that I looked at. I love how the design is minimal but also shows the detail and extravagance of Gothic Architecture.  It is interesting to look at and has come away from the typical academic, historical article. Instead, the designer has gone for a sleek professional design that is easy to engage with and understand.  There are a lot of technical components to Gothic Architecture and I think this approach is probably the most effective for me to use within my own project. I am aiming my designs at people who live and commute through Leeds, which is a huge amount of people from all sorts of different demographics. In order to understand the texts related to Gothic architecture, I really need to understand the terminology as I aforementioned when looking at the previous text. I will be listing definitions along the way to better understand.
