(B3) GEODE HERBAL TEA
- We were drawn to this project purely for its unusual packaging design
- It does have very similar themes, obviously, we have been looking at crystal healing and correlation to the tea and this also looks at crystals but purely as the design feature but, the association was the same
- The colours are also similar to ours, they have more greens/ teals than purple
- I personally enjoy the project for its experimental shaped packaging however, there are many flaws in the design that really puts it down
- The first thing is that the typesetting on the side of the box (ingredients) is boring and they could have done a lot more with it. In oppose to Herbatica, they do not have an elaborate design that justifies their lack of experimental typography (as well as spelling mistakes)
- I also dislike how all their teas are in one box, I understand that this is meant to be a collection of teas to help combat anxiety however, I think they still should have made individual boxes. Unless this is a sample box which would explain the small amount of nine tea bags which in the industry would be a pretty hard sell on all accounts
- This brings me to another problem, each tea bag is packed into a crystal-shaped box, to then be packed in the large white box. This seems like a lot of non-essential packaging and would be unsustainable. Even if the materials are zero plastic and sustainable, you cannot assume that everyone will put the packaging into recycling or when you consider production, that's a lot more machinery being used.
- These are all hypothetical issues for a proposed project but, I think it good to keep asking ourselves these questions for our own project
