TASK FOUR: VISUAL MANIFESTO

Presentation Notes Page One:

I chose 'Non-Dxscript' as my brand name because it was a nickname given to me back in college. My work differed so much from project to project so, people just described it as non- descript. Now I wear it as my design name because I am a multi-media, multi-skilled, illustrator/ graphic designer- and that is quite a mouthful so, Non-Dxscript seemed more fitting.

As for the colour choice of my branding, this will probably be an ever-changing variable. I go through phases of different favourite colours all of the time, right now it is red. This also fits with my personality.

Finally, my logotype is in a gothic font called angelwish, in black. I have always enjoyed fonts that originate from blackletter, once again this relates to my personal and own sense of style. The type and black colour choice are the fixed variable in my branding, in a funny way it basically says "it's not a phase mom!" with regards to me being labelled a goth.

For example, this was a competition brief led by Penguin Random House where you had to select a book from three and design the full cover. I do not typically go for these sort of projects as a screen designer, however the book, "The Uninhabitable Earth", targets the climate crisis. I chose this book because it aims to inform people of the severity of climate change and the impact we have.  My design is small in the grand scheme of things but, could make a huge difference if it helps the book sell.

This was a self-initiated, internal collaboration project, where we designed a proposed communication kit specifically tailored to people with Borderline Personality Disorder. This was a project I was extremely proud of. We had also decided that if it was to be released as an actual product, Talk With Me would be the brand and we could design different boxes for various "touchy subjects" to help people communicate better.

This project was the one that had really given me an idea of how I want to be as a designer. The designs were a response to the growing streaming service industry and how we as designers can continue benefitting the music industry with design.

I also am thinking of doing a course in Computer Science to try and build apps like these and use other design technology.

I wanted to keep my manifesto short and concise because I want the person/ people I am presenting, to remember the statements I have made. This would generally be what I would put as my manifesto on a website. It brings all the important aspects of my design process into one short statement.
