(B5) SURVEY

This survey has been conducted to investigate how people perceive and interact with Gothic Architecture. Moreover, how can design revive the fascination these great buildings used to inspire.

(I should have made the first question multiple choice because the range of people spelling "yes" has given me awkward data. I roughly calculated it as 72.2% Yes, 22.8% No and 3.8% Maybe ("sort of").

I did expect this outcome, which is also good for my project because at least people know what my design is about and also made it easier for them to answer the rest of the survey.
I was surprised at the level of people that said "Yes" to this question. Maybe it was my own preconceptions that assumed people disregarded Gothic Architecture (along with many styles/ movements of architecture). However, I am glad that I have done this survey and not just based my project on the assumption
Looking back I realise how silly this question is. There is no way of finding Gothic Architecture on a map. Yes, the majority are churches and cathedrals, which can be identified on a map but, not all are examples of Gothic Architecture. There are some that are other buildings too which would not be marked on a map. So, I think I should have left this question out, the 11.5% that answered "Yes" must know something I don't.

It was a delight to see the vast majority say "Yes", which would mean that the practical side of the project can take a more informational approach rather than a campaign. I enjoy designing campaigns however, I did want to do something different with this project. I originally felt very strongly about my 'map' idea but, it seems the consensus go to look on the internet or a book at a strong second. Nevertheless, I want to try the map idea because I did only get 26 responses to this survey which, in all cases is not a large enough quantity of people to gather valid results. It will be used as a consideration though.
