(B4) LIQUID TYPE

  • I really wanted to create a bespoke logotype for the book. One of my initial sketches was trying to show a liquid looking type which is what I have tried to develop here. 
  • At first, it looked just like chrome so, I used the liquify tool to bulge the lower parts of the letterforms and anywhere where strokes crossed over. This was to mimic the fact of water congregates in these places due to gravity.
  • 'The' and 'Earth' did not look as effective with this style and I do not like the blue for the background because I feel like it will be a too obvious choice and lack consideration. 
  • I presented these in my critique group for some advice to develop this and how to layout the type and whether there should be some imagery or not. 
  • They said that the type is really interesting and agreed that only 'Uninhabitable' looked effective with the liquid effect. 
  • It was also suggested doing a waterline or something that ran from the back page to the front to connect the whole cover. 
  • I really like the type but, I am just not sure how I can make it work for this project.

(B5) GOTHIC ARCHITECTURE: KEY TERMINOLOGY

In order to understand the texts related to Gothic architecture, I really need to understand the terminology as I aforementioned when looking at the previous text. I will be listing definitions along the way to better understand.
