FLESHING OUT APP DESIGN
- I know I am not fully competent with Adobe After Effects so I looked up some graphic designers on youtube to see the best way to mockup my app prototype.
- A lot of videos came up with tutorials for Adobe XD which was designed specifically for app and web mockups.
- After downloading the programme, I started fleshing out the app design on it. It worked in a very similar way to Adobe Illustrator so for the designing part it was quite easy. Being able to copy components from one page to another made it quick to put together. Plus, this made it very uniformed working on one screen and later being animated all onto one screen without moving between apps.
- The wireframes were a good basis to work from however, it was not until I started designing the pages that I realised to make a good prototype, a lot of elements were missing, some as simple as a 'back' button and login pages etc.
- I kept the typeface from the logo design (Helvetica Bold Oblique) as consistency across the pages, using different typestyles and fills for the various sections.
- Similarly, the grid system and background were consistent throughout apart from the 'Listen' song pages which I justified earlier because those pages are meant to be unique to the song. However, the grid system and type were still present.
- The application of the logo design within the app worked well and successfully complemented the other designs.
