(B1) DISCUSSION WITH RAISA

Raisa and I came back together to discuss the project. I had previously shared my further research with her and we both really liked the production of the Mind Matters: Mindfulness kit. We thought it would be a good starting point for taking our designs further by thinking just how far we can take the idea. I think it has benefitted us by having little breaks from this project because it has allowed us to continue challenging ourselves.

  • I mentioned that we could have a finalised brief/ aim to our project, "a communication tool for people with BPD", a way to better communicate with people close to them
  • Raisa agreed and said she would make a start on the cards which we were going to use as affirmations but instead thought we could make them into 'mood cheat sheets', where would put a typical mood displayed by borderlines but, have an explanation of what it means in layman's terms. For example, "sad" and the explanation "When someone with BPD feels sad, it is the equivalent feeling a typical person would get if they have lost someone" etc.
  • We thought about carrying on with the concertina book idea for the symptoms and once again explaining them in a way that everyone will understand.
  • Also, we thought of adding a mood indication pack which would be a set of gel bands that would equate to an emotion so, the people around the borderline will know
