(B1) MIND MATTERS: MINDFULNESS BY JESSICA YEAP

 

• After my peer critique with Jasmine, I really thought about where to go now with the Living With Borderline Personality project with Raisa
• I started looking for campaigns and this project caught my eye straight away 
• The continuity between all the items for the kit and then the social media campaign is extremely concise, presumably because they have set out design rules early on such as; colour scheme, grid system, typefaces/styles, imagery and textures 
• All of the deliverables are pleasing to observe and you want to interact with it
• Mindfulness although simple, in theory, can be really difficult for someone struggling with their mental health. Simply getting out of bed can feel chore nevermind setting out to do helpful tasks that mindfulness usually entails 
• Nevertheless, this kit is not imposing in the slightest, the nice little sticker set and written prompts in the journal make it much more inviting 
• The concertina "A Guide To Mindfulness", uses the same illustrations and playful typesetting as the other deliverables which makes it a lot more interesting to read. A lot of other designs used when informing people about mindfulness end up looking quite clinical and off-putting whereas this does not 
• The choice of colour scheme, imagery and textures all add to this atmospheric calm energy you feel when looking at the designs 
• All of these have been really considered, the soft colours and textures work well together and then the recurring cloud motifs, all adding to the idea of calm
• The context of this project is very similar to ours and I like how they used the kit as a means of promoting mindfulness. I think it is definitely something we can consider for our own project. 
• The presentation of the designs is very professional and definitely something for us to consider not only for this project but for our practice in general 
• Presentation of design is just as important as the design itself and something I know I need to consider more
• Moreover, for this project, it would be nice to set the designs out like this possible if we do continue with the zine and also design a social media campaign
